New York State has signed an agreement with Esri to provide GIS licenses for the K-12 environment. The New York State GIS Association is in the final stages of addressing the administrative details of this agreement which will run through July 31, 2014. Through this agreement, GIS software will be available to:

All public and non-public schools providing education in grades K-12, including charter schools, technical schools, magnet schools, Montessori schools, religious schools, etc.

Homeschools
- Local chapters of recognized national youth programs, including but not limited to 4-H, FFA, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Boys and Girls Clubs; other youth-serving clubs
School districts and clubs will also be able to use these licenses for non-commercial administrative uses, such as bus routing or facilities management.
