Farmingdale State College invites applications for a tenured track Assistant Professor in Geography. The successful candidate will teach introductory courses in cartography, geographic information systems, and human and physical geography. The successful candidate will also be expected to develop and teach advanced courses in one or more of the following areas: geovisualization and remote sensing; spatial databases; cartographic design; resource management; urban planning; disaster planning/homeland security; environmental security; open source GIS; web mapping or web-based GIS with mobile computing/location-based services.

GIS Position Wanted – Kiel Rohring

I am a recent environmental studies graduate from Purchase College (SUNY) with a focus in policy and a minor in biology looking for a position involving GIS.

I have experience working in ArcGIS 10, having taken multiple courses and receiving an A in each. I also completed the 2014 National Park Service Module, and over 48 hours of ArcGIS training through the Esri Virtual Campus, receiving sixteen certifications. I am proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, have completed and presented my senior thesis titled “Selection of intertidal substrate by gravid Asian Shore Crab females (Hemigrapsus sanguineus)” and am confident in my research and presentation capabilities. My customer service and public education experiences have enabled me to communicate amicably and efficiently with diverse groups of people. I am quick to learn and am comfortable working in fast-paced environments and on both individual and group projects.
